We had our second meeting on Tuesday, November 22nd. The parents enjoyed listening to Margo Black, TrialNet research coordinator from Vanderbilt, as she discussed research opportunities. Several families decided to participate in the research! We had approximately seven type one diabetic children along with their friends and siblings, all of varying ages. The kids seemed to have a good time getting to know each other playing games and making “bag tags.”
I think everyone had a good time as we began to get to know each other. We didn’t have a lot of time for individual conversations, but we did manage to learn a little bit about each other. The parents discussed options and plans for our group and decided that we would provide snacks at each meeting my using the “sign-up” method. We discussed ideas for upcoming meetings, and also tossed around the idea of trying to organize a JDRF walk locally. We’re a motivated group!
